Is There a Market for Natural Beard Oil?

Of all the beard products on the market, beard oil is by far the most popular as shown in the Google Trends line graph below.

When compared to beard wax, beard conditioner, beard balm, and overall beard care, the search volume on Google for beard oil has leaps and bounds more interest.

Note that each of the peaks in the graph below for beard oil (the blue line) is December, meaning that the search relevance is the highest during holiday times – an excellent gift idea to add to your handmade skincare line!

Benefits of Adding Natural Beard Oil to Your Handmade Skincare Business

In addition to meeting the direct needs of your target market, adding beard oil to your product line provides an opportunity for upselling and higher average order value.

Since this is most searched for as a gifting item, bundling beard oil together with waxes, balms, and conditioners would be a quick win during holidays such as Christmas or Father’s Day.

The Best Handmade Beard Oil Recipe

This simple, natural, and effective beard oil recipe is one of my most popular products – as a certified aromatherapist, I formulated this to be retail-ready with a generous one-year shelf life.

Supplies to Make Handmade Beard Oil:

dropper bottle
mini funnels
ingredient scale
glass ramekins

Ingredients to Make DIY Beard Oil:

Jojoba Oil
Grapeseed Oil
Rosemary Essential Oil
Juniper Berry Essential Oil
Cedarwood Essential Oil
Cardamom Essential Oil
Grapefruit Essential Oil
Bergamot Essential Oil

Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis)  – 1/2 oz.

Jojoba oil is similar to the oil our skin naturally produces and quickly and easily absorbed. Jojoba isn’t greasy and is non-allergenic, is very moisturizing, and has an indefinite shelf life.

Grapeseed Oil (Vitis vinifera)  – 1/2 oz.

Grapeseed oil is an astringent oil that makes skin soft, elastic, and evens out skin tone.

Blend #1: Incognito

  • Blend number one is completely fragrance-free, zero essential oils added.
  • This is a very popular ‘blend’, as there is a large target market for products without any aroma at all.

Blend #2: Woodland Frost

Woodland Frost is a blend of crisp, earthy, outdoors-y essential oils that are perfectly paired to achieve that fresh mountain-man scent.

Blend #3: Citrus Grove

Citrus Grove is a blend of warm, bright, sunshine-y essential oils that evoke memories of summertime and carefree days.

Natural Beard Oil Recipe Tutorial

1. Place stainless steel mini funnel on top of the open amber dropper bottle and set a glass ramekin on the scale and tare (set to zero so the ramekin weight doesn’t show).

2. Measure 1/2 oz of jojoba oil and 1/2 oz of grapeseed oil and pour into amber bottle.

3. Drop in essential oils for desired blend (see blend suggestions in the above section) and remove funnel.

4. The amber bottle should have some empty space below the neck portion. This allows space for the dropper (otherwise the oils will overflow when the dropper is inserted and screwed on).

5. Tightly screw on the dropper cap and roll the closed bottle between hands to mix ingredients.

6. Label and safety seal according to your business branding. Check out our selection of beard oil label templates for professional, simple label creation!

Recommended ‘How to Use’ Instructions for your label:

  • For best results, use on a freshly cleansed beard while hair is slightly damp.
  • Squeeze a few drops onto fingers and rub into ALL areas of beard.
  • Massage down to the root of the hair follicle and comb through to tame frizzies.
  • Store in a cool, dark place when not in use.
